Sarah Peck

Deputy Assistant Secretary, Communications

As Deputy Assistant Secretary for Communications, Sarah Peck oversees the Department's media strategy on a wide range of national security issues. Sarah advises Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas and Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Marsha Espinosa on the Department's communications efforts, and she leads the press team that works each day to inform the media about the Department's work. Sarah previously served as the Department's Communications Director, overseeing communications for major policy initiatives and for Operation Allies Welcome, the historic mission to resettle our Afghan allies in the United States.

Sarah has more than a decade of experience working in government and on statewide and national campaigns. Sarah previously served as Senator Tim Kaine’s Communications Director and Press Secretary. In those roles, she worked on national security and foreign policy issues as well as legislative efforts to expand high-quality education and health care access. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
