On January 20, 2017, retired Marine Corps General John F. Kelly was officially sworn in as the fifth Secretary of Homeland Security. As Secretary of Homeland Security in 2017 , Kelly led the third largest federal department in the United States that includes the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the United States Secret Service.
