GSA NCR Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) awarded two service contracts for Information Technology Inspection, Verification & Validation (IV&V) and IT Program Management Office (PMO) support. GSA FAS reclassified these two contracts as “severable services” and restricted the period of performance to September 30, 2011 without consulting or informing DHS. GSA FAS Commissioner Kempf advised that GSA FAS would make DHS whole by replacing the ARRA funds that will be lost as of October 1st and FEDSIM has already begun coordinating this effort. GSA FAS awarded two Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) contracts for Group 1 (systems furniture) to Herman Miller Inc. and Haworth Inc. on September 21, 2011. The award is part of the Secretary’s Efficiency Initiative and provides for a single manufacturer for all systems furniture at the St. Elizabeths Campus and the availability of two BPAs to all components in the National Capital Region. A Task Order to Herman Miller for U.S. Coast Guard Outfitting was also awarded. The USCG Headquarters construction continues with brick work on Building 1C along with installation of stone facade on Buildings 1B and 2A. Rough in of the main headquarters building and garage electrical and mechanical rooms continues. The contractor continued framing/drywall installation in mechanical, electrical and plumbing rooms/bathrooms, Building 1B perimeter walls and Lower Level (LL) 9.
