U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and Mexican Interior Secretary Fernando Gómez-Mont spoke this afternoon to discuss the importance of collaboration and information sharing between the United States and Mexico in order to crack down on contraband trafficking and illegal immigration. Secretary Napolitano also commended Secretary Gómez-Mont on the Government of Mexico’s actions to enhance its border operations.

Assistant Secretary for International Affairs and Special Representative for Border Affairs Alan Bersin toured southern border operations today in El Paso, Texas, and met with state and local law enforcement to discuss cooperative efforts to increase the mutual security of the United States and Mexico.
