ORLANDO, Fla.—Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano today traveled to Orlando, Fla. to deliver remarks at the Women in Federal Law Enforcement Leadership Training Conference, highlighting the Department’s commitment to working across the homeland security enterprise to develop and train the next generation of leaders.
“I am proud of the dedicated women in law enforcement who work hard to keep our country safe,” said Secretary Napolitano. “As a Department, we are committed to developing the next generation of leaders in security and public service, by recruiting qualified and talented staff, and bolstering programs to help them build their skills and advance at DHS.”
In 2010, DHS launched the “Women in Leadership Program” at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Developed for women in law enforcement, the program covers a range of challenging topics related to career development and leadership in law enforcement.
While in Orlando, Secretary Napolitano met with DHS law enforcement representatives to underscore the importance of collaborating with federal, state, local, tribal and territorial partners to enhance our nation’s ability to identify, mitigate and respond to emerging threats.
