BRUSSELS— Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas concluded a two-day trip to Belgium where he participated in a Ministerial Meeting on Foreign Fighters, with international counterparts, hosted by Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Joëlle Milquet.
While in Brussels, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas met with his European counterparts from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, as well as counterpart ministries from Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey plus the European Union Counterterrorism Coordinator to discuss homeland security-related priorities and collective efforts to ensure our common security interests.
During the meetings, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas discussed the inextricable link between the United States’ security and that of our international partners, underscoring the need to continue to work closely together to strengthen global approaches to security challenges.
