TEL AVIV, Israel— Today, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas concluded a three-day trip to Israel, where he delivered remarks at the 6th Annual International Cybersecurity Conference and met with Israeli counterparts to discuss a range of homeland security-related issues, including cybersecurity, law enforcement cooperation, and counterterrorism cooperation.
On Monday, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas delivered remarks on cyber threats, efforts to protect critical infrastructure, and the importance of information sharing at the 6th Annual International Cybersecurity Conference during Cyber Week 2016. On Tuesday, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas met with Head of the National Cyber Bureau Dr. Eviatar Matania and signed a Letter of Intent to enhance cyber security information sharing between DHS and Israel’s National Cyber Security Authority.
The letter builds upon the significant progress both countries have made over the last year to further cyber security collaboration. DHS and the National Cyber Security Authority identified specific priorities for future cooperation related to information sharing, including Israel’s intent to join automated sharing of cyber threat indicators.
While in Israel, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas also met with a range of cybersecurity stakeholders, including academic and industry representatives to support the Department’s ongoing efforts to develop and promote public-private partnerships that protect our networks and strengthen our security against cyber threats.
