WASHINGTON— On Thursday, September 29, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas will be in Los Angeles, where he will honor Antonia Hernández as an “Outstanding American by Choice” and announce a new partnership with the City of Los Angeles and Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Hernández, an active civil rights attorney, has demonstrated her commitment to social justice and civic engagement over four decades in Los Angeles County and Southern California. As President and CEO of the California Community Foundation, she leads the foundation in its mission to lead positive systematic change that strengthens Los Angeles communities.
While in Los Angeles, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas will also announce a new partnership between the DHS Blue Campaign and Los Angeles law enforcement and first responder agencies to raise awareness about human trafficking.
