WASHINGTON – Today, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K. McAleenan is traveling to San Salvador, El Salvador, to meet with regional partners and visit DHS personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard. The Acting Secretary will participate in a Central American Ministerial with Guatemala Minister of Government Enrique Degenhart, Salvadoran Minister of Justice and Public Security Rogelio Rivas, and Honduran Minister of Security Julian Pacheco to discuss further collaboration to confront irregular migration and transnational criminal organizations in the region. The Acting Secretary will also participate in a bilateral meeting with Honduran government officials. Before departing, the Acting Secretary will receive an operational tour aboard a U.S. Coast Guard Cutter to observe how DHS personnel operate in the theater.
