Direct Hire Authority
Direct hire authority (DHA) permits HSI to fill critical positions with highly qualified candidates without the need to use the competitive hiring process.
Due to recent and evolving geopolitical and global economic events, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has been granted direct hire authority (DHA) by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to hire for critical positions with specialized skillsets.
DHA allows agencies to appoint candidates directly, without use of standard hiring procedures, into competitive service career, career-conditional, term, or temporary positions for which there is a severe shortage of candidates or a critical hiring need to fill positions that traditional hiring procedures are not able to fill.
HSI is looking to fill critical vacancies for Criminal Investigators, Intelligence Research Specialists, Cyber Operations Officers/Computer Forensic Analysts, and Forensic Accountants based on the following skillsets:
- Finance: Skilled in collecting, reviewing, organizing or analyzing financial data.
- Cyber/Information Technology: Expertise in data science, networks, operating systems or digital forensics.
- Intelligence: Knowledge of collecting or analyzing investigative or national security information.
- Language Skills: Languages native to Asia, the Middle East, Russia or Ukraine, including Mandarin, Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, Dari, Pashtu and Persian.
To be considered for a tentative selection under DHA, in addition to skills in at least one of the four specialization categories: finance, cyber/information technology, intelligence, and/or language skills you must also meet basic U.S. Office of Personnel Management minimum qualifications regarding experience, education or a combination thereof.
