Domestic Offices
HSI’s domestic field offices investigate crime on a global scale to protect what matters most – our country, our people, our future.
HSI has 235 domestic field offices in communities across the United States. They all fall under the direction of one of our 30 Special Agent in Charge (SAC) offices, located in our biggest cities nationwide. Our workforce includes more than 6,900 special agents, 1,000 criminal analysts and other support personnel assigned across our domestic footprint.
Our offices combat global threats that impact the jurisdictions they are responsible for protecting. Criminals operate in our cities and communities, and it is our job to shield you from them. HSI special agents follow leads, collect evidence, seize contraband, identify and violators, and work with prosecutors to hold criminals accountable for the laws they break.
HSI special agents in our domestic field offices work cases across the full spectrum of crimes HSI has the legal authority to investigate – we stop the smuggling of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs onto our streets and prevent financial and cybercrime targeting your businesses and bank accounts. We prioritize crimes of victimization, like child exploitation and human trafficking that harm our most vulnerable populations and investigate individuals stealing intellectual property and sensitive technology to provide it to our adversaries. We target gang members, war criminals and other national security threats who live among us and pose a threat to us. We do this and more to keep you safe from global crimes that have a local impact.
