New York Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Production of Child Pornography Following HSI St. Paul Investigation in South Dakota

Release Date: August 13, 2024

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota announced July 24 that Timothy Raymond Myers aka C.J. Mikowski aka Colin James, 39, of Buffalo, New York, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release and ordered to pay $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund for production of child sexual abuse material.

This federal sentence is to be served concurrently with a 20-year federal sentence from New York he received in 2020. In July 2023, a federal grand jury indicted Myers. He pleaded guilty on April 30.

The conviction stemmed from incidents between July 4, 2016, and July 2, 2017, when Myers impersonated a teenage male on Facebook and contacted a teenage female in South Dakota. After Myers persuaded the teenage girl to send him sexually explicit photos, he threatened to publicly post the photos unless she sent more of them. Law enforcement officers investigating the case found multiple teenage girls throughout the United States Myers had victimized with the same methods.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) St. Paul. Myers was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
