HONOLULU — In an ongoing effort to combat illegal activities and protect communities, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Honolulu Police Department recently conducted a significant operation aimed at addressing the issue of illegal game rooms. The operation successfully targeted property owners, trustees and registered agents involved in these illicit activities, delivering clear warnings and providing crucial guidance.
The operation's primary objective was to serve involved parties with notices of illegal use of property and acknowledgement of forfeiture warnings. This initiative serves a dual purpose: To notify property owners of potential forfeiture proceedings should illegal activities persist and to offer an educational opportunity for those who may be unaware of the unlawful events occurring on their premises.
“The goal of the operation served as a warning to property owners that forfeiture proceedings may be initiated if the illegal activity continues. With this endeavor, we are sending the message that law enforcement stands committed to addressing these illegal game rooms plaguing the community,” said HSI Honolulu acting Special Agent in Charge Lucia Cabral-DeArmas.
This initiative underscores the dedication of law enforcement agencies to creating a safer environment for residents by disrupting illegal operations that negatively impact neighborhoods. The coordinated efforts include ongoing surveillance, community education and collaboration with other government entities to bolster overall community safety.
Property owners, along with their trustees and agents, are urged to take these warnings seriously and exercise vigilance to ensure their properties are not used for unlawful purposes. Cooperation with law enforcement plays a pivotal role in deterring criminal activities and maintaining the sanctity of our communities.
