Guatemalan National Arrested for Attempting to Entice a Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity

Release Date: September 20, 2024

OCALA, Fla. — A Guatemalan national has been arrested on a criminal complaint charging him with attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity after an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Orlando and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Reagan Morales Roblero, 37, of Guatemala, faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 10 years and up to life in federal prison if convicted. Morales Roblero is currently detained pending the resolution of the criminal case.

According to court documents, in July 2024, an undercover special agent from HSI posed online as a 13-year-old girl. The undercover agent received a message from Morales Roblero, who then engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the undercover agent throughout July and August. On Sept. 5, 2024, Morales Roblero told the undercover agent that he would be in Ocala. Despite the undercover agent describing that she was only 13 years old, Morales Roblero sent her sexually explicit videos and discussed meeting her at a local motel because he wanted to “make love tonight.” Ultimately, Morales Roblero was taken into custody by law enforcement in the lobby of the Marion County motel.

A complaint is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

The case will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Janette Swartzberg.
