Michael King was also convicted in state court in 2017
BANGOR, Maine — A Hampden man pleaded guilty Oct. 31 in U.S. District Court in Bangor to possessing child pornography involving a child under 12.
According to court records, investigators from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Maine State Police executed a search warrant in May 2023 at the residence of Michael King, 66. In an interview with agents, King admitted to possessing child sexual abuse material and advised the agents they would find his computer under the couch. The laptop was seized, and hundreds of images were recovered.
King had previously been convicted in state court in March 2017 of possessing sexually explicit material of a child under 12.
King faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, followed by five years to life of supervised release. King’s prior conviction may enhance his sentence in this case.
HSI New England’s Bangor Resident Agent in Charge office and the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit investigated the case.
