HOUSTON — A Houston-area man was sentenced to prison Nov. 7 for multiple child sexual exploitation-related offenses following an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Houston.
Adam Michael Ohlsen, a 44-year-old resident of Porter, was sentenced in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas to 280 months and 200 months, respectively, for the sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child sexual abuse materials. Ohlsen was ordered to serve the sentences consecutively for a total prison sentence of 480 months. He was further ordered to register as a sex offender and will remain on supervised release for the remainder of his life following completion of his prison term. During that time, he will have to comply with numerous requirements designed to restrict his access to children and the internet. Restitution will be determined at a later date.
Ohlsen pleaded guilty to the charges May 5.
“The vile predators who commit child sex offenses prey on the innocence and vulnerability of a population that can’t defend themselves,” said HSI Houston acting Special Agent in Charge Robert Kurtz. “HSI Houston special agents stand ready to take up that fight for our children and will not rest until we have eradicated southeast Texas of this heinous form of pure evil.”
During the hearing, the court learned how deeply and terribly these crimes have affected the minor victim and how the dissemination of child sexual abuse materials depicting her abuse will continue to impact her psychologically and emotionally.
HSI’s investigation began after it was discovered that Ohlsen had distributed child sexual abuse materials using a Russian image hosting website in 2022. Further investigation revealed that Ohlsen had sexually abused the minor victim and shared the images of the abuse on an image sharing platform. A search warrant was executed at Ohlsen’s residence, and he confessed to abusing the victim and sharing imagery of the abuse.
Ohlsen will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
The Queensland Police Service assisted with the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine Lu prosecuted the case.
