Lake County Man Indicted for Receiving Child Sex Abuse Material

Release Date: November 20, 2024

OCALA, Fla. — A Florida man has been indicted in federal court with two counts of receipt of child sexual abuse material following a joint Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Orlando investigation.

Bryce Fleetwood, 26, Clermont, faces a maximum of 20 years on each count in federal prison if convicted, including a five-year minimum term of imprisonment. Fleetwood is currently in custody pending the resolution of this case.

According to the indictment and evidence presented in court, on May 11 and Nov. 15, 2022, Fleetwood, using an online social media messaging application, received sexual abuse material depicting young children.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by HSI Orlando, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. It will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Janette Swartzberg.

HSI Tampa's area of responsibility, which includes 10 geographically strategic offices, covers more than 51,600 square miles of the total 65,757 square miles in the state of Florida.
