JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Colombian national has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after having been previously deported twice following an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Jacksonville.
Gustavo De Jesus Ramirez-Ramirez, 54, pled guilty on Sept. 16, 2024.
According to court records, Ramirez-Ramirez was arrested in Jacksonville on Nov. 11, 2022, after he rappelled from a hole in the ceiling of a business and then drilled through three adjacent business walls and into a jewelry store. He later pled guilty in state court to burglary of a dwelling with damage and burglary of a structure. After his arrest, it was also discovered that Ramirez-Ramirez was present in the United States illegally. He has two previous deportations, one of which followed a prior conviction for illegal reentry into the United States in Oct. 2014.
This case was investigated by the HSI Jacksonville and the Jacksonville’s Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brenna Falzetta.
