Recommendations Memo Concerning La Palma Corrections Center

CRCL conducted an investigation into conditions of detention for ICE detainees at the La Palma Correction Center in Eloy, Arizona. CRCL’s virtual onsite investigation occurred February 22-25, 2021, and was in response to allegations received regarding general conditions of detention, inadequate medical care of detainees, and environmental health and safety concerns at the facility.

Final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for El Paso Service Processing Center

ICE has prepared this Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 (42 United States Code [U.S.C.] 4321 et seq.) and other relevant federal and state laws and regulations, as well as DHS Directive 023-01, Revision 01 and DHS Instruction Manual 023-01-001-01, Revison 01, Implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act. This Draft EA discloses the environmental impacts that would result from the Proposed Action and alternatives.

DHS Releases New Resources to Combat Human Trafficking on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons  

On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released new resources aimed at combatting human trafficking and supporting victims.  The new resources include the first-ever Continued Presence Resource Guide to assist federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies in supporting victims of human trafficking and advancing trafficking investigations and prosecutions.

DHS Statement on the Resumption of Expedited Removal for Certain Family Units

Beginning today, certain family units who are not able to be expelled under Title 42 will be placed in expedited removal proceedings.  Expedited removal provides a lawful, more accelerated procedure to remove those family units who do not have a basis under U.S. law to be in the United States.

CRCL conducted a virtual onsite investigation into conditions of detention for ICE detainees at the Otero County Processing Center in Otero, New Mexico on November 30-December 3, 2020. CRCL’s review of the facility focused in large part on operations in the areas of medical care, mental health care, environmental health and safety, and conditions of confinement.
