Statement From Acting Secretary Chad Wolf On Microsoft’s Election Initiative

Release Date: September 10, 2020

Acting Secretary Wolf released the following statement on Microsoft’s announcement today which can be found here:

“Protecting our elections is a team effort with the federal government and the private sector joining together to thwart foreign malign actors. Today’s announcement from Microsoft reaffirms my statements in the recent State of the Homeland Address: China, Iran, and Russia are trying to undermine our democracy and influence our elections. DHS and this Administration have been consistent in calling out all these bad actors and taking action wherever appropriate to protect the integrity of our election systems, reinforced by the Department of the Treasury’s recent actions sanctioning four Russia-linked individuals for election interference. I applaud Microsoft’s efforts to defend democracy against these attacks and for their transparency on this critical issue. I encourage all Americans to be more prepared for the upcoming elections by visiting CISA’s #Protect2020 website.”
