DHS is proud to announce the launch of our brand new DHS.gov. After months in the works, I’m happy to share that the Department’s flagship website has been significantly modernized and improved to provide the public and our workforce with a more intuitive, secure, and user-friendly experience.
Excellence in user experience – and a new look
Our website’s brand-new look and feel optimizes customer experience to make information about our services readily available, easier to understand, and more efficient to use. To do this, our web team streamlined and revised more than 14,000 pages of content. This new website uses a latest-generation content management system that is faster and more responsive than our previous site.
With the latest in user experience research and design, this new system also allows for more flexibility for content presentation. Now, information that the public is looking for – like REAL ID compliance information, human trafficking awareness materials, and the latest National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin – is front and center.
Some of the great new features of the site include:
- More accurate searches with results that can be filtered by various sections on the site. You can also search by keyword or topic throughout the site to help find related content.
- Seamless experiences across all devices.
- New tools like updated slideshows, carousels, and feature cards – all proven ways to help enhance the user experience of the site.
- Expanded photo and video library to help us better tell the story of the tremendous efforts of the DHS workforce.
- Enhanced newsroom and publications libraries for the latest in official statements and policy.
- And more!
Services that are equitable for all
The new DHS.gov is designed to be fully accessible, reinforcing the Department’s commitment to meet or exceed federal accessibility standards, as per Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. It is also one of the first cabinet-level agency websites to fully adopt the US Web Design System (USWDS) as required by the 21st Century Integrated Digital Experience Act (21C IDEA). DHS.gov is proud to serve as the template for other DHS USWDS websites moving forward.
