Assistant Secretary
As Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Alexei Woltornist oversees the Department of Homeland Security’s public outreach and media relations efforts. He also directs the department’s strategic, incident, and internal communications, and serves as the principal communications advisor to the Secretary of Homeland Security.
For almost a decade, Mr. Woltornist has advised non-profits and government leaders on public affairs and government relations strategies. He recently served as a public affairs officer at the Department of Justice and communications director at the House of Representatives Republican Study Committee under the chairmanship of Rep. Mark Walker.
Mr. Woltornist is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville where he obtained a B.A.
