As Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, Tricia McLaughlin oversees the Department of Homeland Security’s public outreach, including its media, digital, strategic and crisis communications efforts, and serves as the principal advisor to Secretary Noem on all external and internal communications.

McLaughlin served in the first Trump Administration at the State Department as the Chief of Staff for Nuclear Arms Control, focused on negotiating country-first nuclear arms control deals and at the US Treasury Department as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary focused on economic sanctions.

An Ohio native, McLaughlin was previously Ohio Governor DeWine's Political Communications Director and Vivek Ramaswamy’s Senior Advisor.  McLaughlin was also a Political Contributor for ABC News.
