Three Words, One Goal This #SeeSayDay: Spot, Report, Prevent

We all have something or someone to protect, and one tip could make the difference in keeping communities safe. Whether you are protecting your family, school, or place of work or worship, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) “If You See Something, Say Something®” campaign wants you to feel empowered to “Spot the Signs. Report the Activity”.

September 25 marks “If You See Something, Say Something®” Awareness Day, or #SeeSayDay. On this day each year, DHS and its campaign partners come together to spread the word about the public’s role in suspicious activity reporting. This year, remember three words: Spot. Report. Prevent.

  • Spot: Learn what suspicious activity looks like. Remember, factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity are not suspicious.
  • Report: Speak up to report suspected terrorism-related crime to local authorities.
  • Prevent: Get educated! Stay informed and vigilant to help protect your community from threats.

“If You See Something, Say Something®” is a national awareness campaign that encourages the public to recognize and report terrorism-related suspicious activity to local authorities. In the current threat environment, this year’s theme emphasizes the profound importance of public vigilance in national security and counterterrorism efforts – on September 25 and year-round.

Our communities are worth protecting, and the campaign encourages everyone to unite in the collective goal to spot suspicious activity and report suspected activity to local authorities to help prevent terrorism-related crime.

We all play a role. What will yours be? Learn more about participating in #SeeSayDay at DHS.gov/SeeSay.
