Evaluated intelligence shows that terrorist groups continue to target commercial aviation and are aggressively pursuing innovative methods to plan their attacks to include smuggling explosive devices in various consumer items. Earlier this year, aviation security enhancements were implemented at 10 airports with flights departing for the United States. These measures require that all personal electronic devices larger than a cell phone or smart phone be placed in checked baggage.
