I often wonder why we limit ourselves--Why do we believe there is a box in the first place and that we need to think our way out of it? What if instead we imagined the possibilities without regard to predefined limitations?
As Buzz Aldrin said, “I know the sky is not the limit, because there are footprints on the moon.”
I’m fascinated by the stories of those who dared to think beyond the problem they were trying to solve. Henry Ford once said that if he had asked people what they wanted, they would have said “faster horses.” And Steve Jobs designed and deployed a “smart phone” that we didn’t even know we needed, and now can’t live without out. The same is true for ourselves…what we believe is either what is true or what becomes true. If we believe the “box” we’re in is limiting, it indeed will be. If we believe instead that we have endless opportunities to choose endless paths, then we will indeed find the journey so much more rewarding.
Let’s stop asking what problem we’re trying to solve, let’s stop assuming we are in a box, and let’s stop believing we are stuck on our path…let’s ask instead, what are the infinite possibilities the universe has available for us to tap into, and then be still and listen--really listen--to what the universe whispers back to us.
