We all want to fit in. We all want to feel like we belong, whether it is within our offices, our communities, or our families. And, sometimes in order to fit in, we accommodate others to the point where our own light is dimmed, and we’re no longer even sure of who we are or how to shine our bright light. Sometimes we dim our light to accommodate someone else’s insecurities, we downplay our accomplishments, or stay quiet with our ideas because we don’t want others to feel small. Yet, if you think about it, flowers don’t open and close according to who is walking by, or hide their blooms because they stand beside weeds…no, they show their beautiful colors regardless, and they do so on their schedule, not asking permission to shine.
If there are those who don’t appreciate your bright light, shine anyhow…you may just find that it inspires them to do the same. It only takes one person to rise up and allow their light to shine for a ripple effect to happen…creating an environment in which others want to fit into and belong to. It all starts with your beautiful light!
