Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a strategic partnership between the Department’s Center for Countering Human Trafficking (CCHT) and international non-governmental organization (NGO) Liberty Shared to enhance the Department’s ability to investigate forced labor in the supply chain.

Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Causing someone under the age of 18 to engage in a commercial sex act, regardless of using force, fraud, or coercion is human trafficking under U.S. law.

Continued Presence Awareness Training

Continued Presence (CP) is a temporary immigration status provided to individuals identified by law enforcement as victims of a “severe form of trafficking in persons” who may be potential witnesses. This three-part video describes CP, who is eligible, and how to make a request. The video can be used for training purposes and task force meetings.

The President’s Budget details his vision to expand on the historic progress our country has made over the last year and delivers the agenda he laid out in his State of the Union address—to build a better America, reduce the deficit, reduce costs for families, and grow the economy from the bottom up and middle out. The President's Fiscal Year 2023 Budget for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is $97.3 billion, an increase of $6.5 billion from the Fiscal Year 2022 President’s Budget.

Blue Lightning Initiative Releases New Human Trafficking Training for Aviation Employees

The Blue Lightning Initiative (BLI), a joint campaign of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and United States Department of Transportation (DOT), announced today the release of a new online training program to combat human trafficking in the aviation industry. The updated training educates aviation employees on how to recognize the indicators of human trafficking and how to appropriately report what they see. The training now includes specialized content for both large and small airport settings.
