March 2024 CP3 Prevention Connection Newsletter: In partnership with SAFECOM and the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (NCSWIC), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) updated the List of Federal Financial Assistance Programs Funding Emergency Communications.
DHS, through S&T, was awarded a U.S. patent for the HExCAT, protecting the Department’s invention and guaranteeing that the technology can help fulfill the DHS mission for years to come.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant Programs Directorate (GPD) offers guidance on eligible costs under certain grant programs during periods of civil unrest. FEMA’s programs operate under varied statutory provisions that have different allowability and eligibility requirements; however, the potential to reprogram funds for limited purposes may exist under the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) and the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program.
DHS S&T announced that it is extending a Phase 1 Other Transaction award to Synthetik Insurance Analytics under S&T’s SVIP “Flood Data Collection and Analysis” solicitation.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS)Science and Technology Directorate(S&T) awarded $1.67 million to the Department of Energy (DOE) Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) to conduct research on strengthening and reimagining the future emergency response structure.
The Department of Homeland Security announced final allocations of $605 million in six Fiscal Year 2023 competitive preparedness grant programs.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas announced $1.6 billion for eight Fiscal Year 2022 preparedness grant programs. Together, these programs provide critical funding to help state and local officials prepare for, prevent, protect against, and respond to acts of terrorism and other hazards. This funding is in addition to the $405.1 million announced last month for the Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.
To help assure data quality in the aftermath of a radiological or nuclear incident, S&T’s NUSTL in conjunction with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is developing a set of manuals, quick reference guides, spreadsheets, checklists, and other tools and technical guidance.
