SAN DIEGO — A Guatemalan national and leader of a drug trafficking organization was sentenced in federal court Feb. 9 to 260 months in prison.
LAREDO, Texas — A Mexican citizen was sentenced for holding multiple men against their will and demanding ransom following a HSI, U.S. Border Patrol and Webb County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office investigation.
HOUSTON — Six more people were sentenced Feb. 12 for their roles in a conspiracy to fraudulently obtain more than $20 million in forgivable Paycheck Protection Program loans that were guaranteed by the SBA under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An investigation conducted by HSI Charleston and the West Virginia State Police resulted in a Missouri man receiving a 10-year prison sentence for a child sexual abuse material crime.
PHOENIX — A Phoenix area man was sentenced Jan. 28 to 24 months in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release for his involvement in human smuggling. HSI investigated the case.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An NEFL INTERCEPT investigation has led to a Florida man’s guilty plea for distributing child sexual abuse material using the internet.
BALTIMORE — An investigation spearheaded by HSI Baltimore’s Mid-Atlantic El Dorado Task Force in conjunction with the EPA’s OIG and IRS Criminal Investigation resulted in a statewide operation to break up an alleged Maryland-based financial fraud network.
SAN ANTONIO — A Texas man was sentenced to more than 8 years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to transport undocumented noncitizens following an investigation conducted by HSI and Joint Task Force Alpha.
EL PASO, Texas — An El Paso man who served as a soldier in a transnational criminal organization pleaded guilty to kidnapping resulting in death following an investigation by HSI.
