DHS Announces New Cybersecurity Requirements for Critical Pipeline Owners and Operators, Second Security Directive

In response to the ongoing cybersecurity threat to pipeline systems, DHS’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced the issuance of a second Security Directive that requires owners and operators of TSA-designated critical pipelines that transport hazardous liquids and natural gas to implement a number of urgently needed protections against cyber intrusions.

DHS Announces New Efforts to Support the TSA Workforce

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas announced new efforts to support the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening officer workforce, including expanding collective bargaining at the national level and ensuring that TSA’s standards and processes adhere to the principles applied by the Merit Systems Protection Board.  Secretary Mayorkas also expressed the Department’s commitment to improving pay for the TSA workforce.

REAL ID - Minimum Standards for Driver’s Licenses

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) published a request for information in the Federal Register seeking information about security standards and technologies concerning mobile driver’s licenses. Responses to the request for information will support future DHS/TSA rulemaking to update the REAL ID Act implementing regulation to accommodate mobile driver’s licenses.
