Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas has made cybersecurity a top priority for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in alignment with the Biden-Harris Administration’s priorities. On September 27-28, 2023, DHS hosted the first Western Hemisphere Cyber Conference, which convened foreign government cyber leaders to discuss cybersecurity challenges and identify areas of collaboration.

Port and Waterway Resiliency

The DHS Science and Technology Directorate is developing tools to provide United States Coast Guard waterway managers with enhanced capabilities to protect economic activity along the Marine Transportation System  and maintain safe operation of vessels along U.S. inland waterways.

Mass Rescue Operations Fact Sheet

The DHS Science and Technology Directorate is partnering with the United States Coast Guard to develop a mass rescue device that will ensure more survivors are rescued during search and rescue operations at sea. The desired end product will be a nonstandard innovative, large-capacity, ultra lightweight floating device that could be deployed from air and surface assets during mass rescue operations in offshore scenarios.
