Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas spoke by phone on Tuesday, March 23 with Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs, Peter Dutton. Secretary Mayorkas and Minister Dutton discussed the continued strength of the U.S.-Australia relationship and opportunities for enhancing work between DHS and the Department of Home Affairs. During the conversation, they emphasized the threat posed by domestic violent extremism and discussed the importance of gun safety reform. The leaders also reaffirmed commitments to coordinate on cybersecurity, supply chain security, and irregular migration.
