On Thursday, April 15, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas spoke by video teleconference with Spain's Minister of Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez. During the conversation, Secretary Mayorkas and Minister Grande-Marlaska explored opportunities to strengthen the close security partnership between the United States and Spain through enhanced information sharing, efforts to combat terrorism and transnational organized crime, and migration management in Latin America and Africa. They also discussed ongoing COVID-19-related travel issues, recognized the importance of a U.S.-EU Passenger Name Record (PNR) policy that bolsters national security and hinders organized crime, and agreed to consider additional cooperative mechanisms on cybersecurity and other issues.
