On June 21-23, 2021, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas will travel to Lisbon, Portugal and Madrid, Spain. In Lisbon, Secretary Mayorkas will represent the United States at the U.S-EU Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) Ministerial and will also meet with counterparts from both Portugal and the European Commission. In Madrid, Secretary Mayorkas will engage with senior officials from the Government of Spain to reaffirm our bilateral relationship and deepen cooperation across shared priorities. In his meetings with European counterparts, Secretary Mayorkas will discuss common security threats, including addressing violent extremism and tackling cybercrime, notably ransomware, digital challenges and opportunities, information sharing such as the transmission and retention of Passenger Name Record (PNR) data, and migration and mobility issues.
