Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Chief Financial Officer
For the ninth consecutive year, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has earned the prestigious Certificate of Excellence in Accountability (CEAR) Award for financial reporting.
The CEAR Award, sponsored by the Association of Government Accountants, is the highest form of recognition in Federal government management reporting. The award acknowledges the publication of an informative, high-quality Agency Financial Report (AFR) with insightful information regarding agency spending and program performance.
The AFR presents a detailed assessment of the Department’s financial status. The report also provides details on how the resources entrusted to DHS were used to support the homeland security mission. The AFR is produced annually as part of collaborative efforts throughout the Management Directorate’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer and Components.
The Fiscal Year 2021 AFR was noteworthy because DHS received over $50 billion of additional funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act and other relief legislation to support the national response to the pandemic.
“We are immensely proud to award DHS the recognition its hard work deserves. Hopefully, with sustained leadership and commitment, DHS will continue to be recognized for its excellence in performance and accountability reporting and serve as a model for other agencies.” the selection stated.
The Department is very proud of this excellent accomplishment. Thanks to outstanding teamwork and the leadership of the Office of Chief Financial Officer, the Department’s ability to uphold the highest standard of accountability and transparency in communicating results and status of financial activities, while fulfilling its missions, demonstrates to the American public our strong commitment to the stewardship of taxpayer dollars. The success of the past nine years illustrates the Department’s commitment to remaining transparent and being good stewards of taxpayer dollars while fulfilling its missions.
