Close Summary: HSI Investigative Processes

This is a summary of Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties' (CRCL) Recommendation Memorandum to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in September 2023 that followed CRCL’s investigation into allegations that ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) violated an individual’s Fourth Amendment rights. CRCL issued six recommendations to ICE. ICE responded to CRCL in September 2024 and concurred with three of CRCL’s recommendations, partially concurred with two, and non-concurred with one.
