IDENT’s IXM Schema and Conformance Tool

Body

The Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) maintains the Automated Biometric Identification System, also known as IDENT. To enable biometric and identity management services to OBIM’s customers, OBIM created the IDENT Exchange Message (IXM) Specification as an application profile designed to allow Stakeholders’ own biometric systems communicate with IDENT, the established DHS biometric systems of record. IXM is an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-based message exchange format that provides an easy-to-manage, standards-based interface to the services offered by OBIM.

To assist our stakeholders in properly developing system-to-system connectivity to enable authorized data exchange with the Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT), OBIM developed an IXM Conformance Tool. This tool will enable stakeholders to streamline the process to meet IXM requirements and expedite expanding use of OBIM enterprise services for their specific DHS mission needs.
