Recommendation Memorandum to the U.S. Coast Guard Regarding Maritime Interdictions Related to Operation Vigilant Sentry

CRCL issued six recommendations to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to address concerns regarding the component’s maritime interdiction policies and processes under Operation Vigilant Sentry. In January 2023, CRCL initiated an investigation into DHS operations involving the interdiction, protection screening, and care and custody of migrants seeking protection at sea. CRCL’s investigation concerned the USCG, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and United States Customs and Border Protection.
