The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) Sustainability and Efficiency Task Force was created in June 2009, and is an experienced group of energy and environmental experts who advise the Secretary of Homeland Security on ways to bolster national security by maximizing resource efficiency. The task force was reactivated in Winter of 2011. This transmittal letter describes the report of the task force regarding DHS vehicles, sustainable acquisitions, and ways to strengthen the Department's mission while reducing costs and enhancing the security of the Nation.
