Your Safety, Our Priority.

Body

The Federal Protective Service’s mission is clear: to prevent, protect, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other hazards threatening the federal government’s essential services, ensuring the continuity of the U.S. Government. FPS has developed a series of personal safety and security awareness messages as part of an ongoing commitment to enable employees, customers, stakeholders, and the public to keep safe— Your Safety, Our Priority. This initiative provides information on how to remain vigilant and increase personal safety, in the office, during commutes, on business trips, at home, and more.

Personal Safety & Security. Your Safety, Our Priority.

Through 2024 and the beginning of 2025, FPS will publish periodic messages providing actionable tips to help individuals stay safe and will focus on topics such as:

  • Recognizing and Reporting Suspicious Behavior
  • Dealing with Active Threats
  • Protecting Yourself Online, including on Social Media
  • Safety and Security At Home, At the Office, and On Travel
  • And much more.

As co-chair of the Government Services and Facilities Sector, FPS’s Your Safety, Our Priority initiative aims to promote security and resilience through information and resources sharing for state, local tribal, and territorial government personnel, as well as the essential functions they perform. FPS’s goal is to keep people safe, both online and off, by educating and empowering them to prevent these threats through vigilance.

This is the Federal Protective Service Active Threat Awareness brief, which provides potentially lifesaving information to prepare for an active threat incident, in the workplace, at home, at school, or anywhere. The presentation introduces the four types of active threats, as well as the four components involved in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from an active threat incident.
