  • SLTT Cybersecurity Subcommittee Membership List

    As cyber and physical systems become more interconnected, the digital attack surface is extending further into our daily lives, with the potential for malicious cyber actors to create dangerous, real-world effects. Federal, State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) entities must collaborate and coordinate extensively with critical infrastructure private sector owners, operators, and stakeholders to identify and address these cybersecurity challenges. This will include: figuring out how DHS can most effectively and efficiently support SLTT agencies and partners in pursuing cybersecurity and the resilience of their IT infrastructure, including response and recovery; finding programs, services, and outreach that would provide the greatest benefit to SLTT stakeholders in reducing IT risks; lastly, measuring how effective the Homeland Security Grant Program has been in addressing risks at SLTT levels, and how the Grant Program could best be structured to address cybersecurity risks.

    CRCL conducted an onsite investigation at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange, California to address allegations of inadequate medical care, recreation, access to telephones, and law library access, and other concerns. This investigation involved an expert in medical care and an expert in detentions.

  • Recommendations Memo to CBP Concerning Religious Questioning at Ports of Entry

    This memorandum provides policy and training recommendations to better support front-line CBP Office of Field Operations officers in avoiding improper questions regarding travelers' religion while conducting border inspections.  It closes, with general findings and specific recommendations, multiple complaints filed with the
    CRCL on this subject, and also closes multiple complaints that touch on similar subjects--without findings or recommendations--due to their age and ongoing litigation.

  • S&T Automated Driver and Responder Alert System Operational Field Assessment Report

    The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate’s First Responder Technologies Division initiated a project with the goal of enhancing roadway safety for first responders. Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) developed the Automated Driver and Responder Alert System (ADRAS) prototype to assist in reaching this goal.
