The Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) makes formal recommendations with the goal of publicly seeking to raise an issue to improve processes and service delivery at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Formal recommendations place an issue in the sights of the agency and the public which it serves, allowing both to focus on opportunities for improvement. In addition to the individual formal recommendations listed in the links below, the CIS Ombudsman’s Annual Report to Congress contains many formal recommendations for improving how USCIS administers our nation’s immigration benefits system.
After the CIS Ombudsman makes a formal recommendation, USCIS is statutorily required to respond within three months.
