DHS/TSA/PIA-051 Travel Document Checker Automation - Digital Identity Technology Pilots

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires that aviation passengers verify their identity at TSA checkpoints. Typically, this is accomplished by the presentation of a physical identity document (ID) to the Travel Document Checker Officer. TSA is exploring the acceptance of digital IDs (a digital representation of a passenger’s physical ID on a digital device) to provide passengers with a secure, efficient, and touchless experience. This Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) is conducted pursuant to Section 222 of the Homeland Security Act to address privacy risks in the use of digital IDs in the identity verification process at the checkpoint. This operator aid book briefly describes procedures for the use of first responder preventive radiological/nuclear detection (PRND) equipment in a consequence management (CM) response to a radiological material release to the environment. The PRND mission is to detect and interdict radiological/nuclear materials outside of regulatory control before they can be misused.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Acquisition Regulation is issued for Departmental guidance according to the policy cited in the Federal Acquisition Regulation 48 Code of Federal Regulations 1.301. The regulation establishes uniform DHS policies and procedures for all acquisition activities within the DHS. The regulation is issued by the Chief Procurement Officer who is the DHS Senior Procurement Executive. The regulation is codified at 48 CFR Chapter 30.

Quarterly Outreach to Recipients of DHS Financial Assistance on Meeting Civil Rights Requirements

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL) provides quarterly outreach to recipients of DHS financial assistance.  The quarterly emails provide up-to-date information on reminders, resources, upcoming events, and FAQs to assist recipients in understanding and meeting their civil rights requirements.

CRCL Expert Recommendations Memo Concerning Investigation at Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, Texas

CRCL conducted an in-person onsite investigation into conditions of detention for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, Texas from September 20-24, 2021.
