Privacy

The DHS Privacy Office is responsible for evaluating the Department programs, systems, and initiatives for potential privacy impacts, and providing strategies to reduce the privacy impact.

  • DHS/USSS/PIA-022 Radio Over IP (RoIP)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) United States Secret Service (USSS) Radio over IP (RoIP) system is a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system, or a secure wireless radio communications system, deployed to provide voice and voice management needs for protective and investigative personnel. USSS RoIP is used by USSS protective details to ensure the security of protectees and protected locations through encrypted communications to and from USSS headquarters. Additionally, USSS uses RoIP for communication during criminal investigations in furtherance of USSS’s investigative mission.

  • DHS/CBP/PIA-054 Laboratory Information Network (LIN)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Laboratories and Scientific Services Directorate (LSSD) owns and operates the Laboratory Information Network (LIN) system. Laboratory analysts use the LIN web application for tracking and storing information related to analysis requests, test results, and laboratory reports supporting CBP trade and forensic investigations.

  • DHS/ALL/PIA-065 Electronic Contract Filing System (ECFS)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Management Directorate, Office of the Chief Procurement Officer (OCPO) has developed the Electronic Contract Filing System (ECFS). ECFS functions as a contract storage system throughout the lifecycle of a contract, and will be the authoritative source of the contract file in an electronic format for DHS Components as the Department moves away from paper-based management. In addition to contract file storage, ECFS supports workflow, document management, and records management.

  • DHS/USCG/PIA-027 U.S. Coast Guard Art Program (COGAP)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Coast Guard Art Program (COGAP) is an outreach tool for educating diverse audiences about the United States Coast Guard (USCG). COGAP relies on contributions and works of art provided by its members to tell the story of the service’s missions, heroes, and history.

  • DHS/USSS/PIA-021 Comprehensive Incident Database on Targeted Violence (CID-TV)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) United States Secret Service (Secret Service or USSS) has created the Comprehensive Incident Database on Targeted Violence (CID-TV). CID-TV is an on-going research project that analyzes past incidents of targeted violence directed toward public officials, public figures, and prominent facilities, structures, or events in support of the mission of the National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC), Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information (SII).

  • DHS/USCIS/PIA-072 CAP Tracker

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) oversees lawful immigration and non-immigration benefits. For all incoming applications, petitions, and forms, USCIS reviews the completeness and acceptability of each one and rejects those failing to meet the stated criteria. USCIS developed the CAP Tracker system to track and maintain an inventory of all rejected filings. CAP Tracker is also used to generate standardized rejection notices sent to applicants or petitioners and, if applicable, legal representatives.

  • DHS/ALL/PIA-064 Preventing and Combating Serious Crime (PCSC) Agreements - Greece and Italy

    In 2009, the United States entered into two separate Enhancing Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Serious Crime Agreements (PCSC Agreements) with the Hellenic Republic (Greece) and the Italian Republic (Italy).

  • DHS/CBP/PIA-052(a) Incident-Driven Video Recording Systems (IDVRS)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is conducting a field evaluation of Incident-Driven Video Recording Systems (IDVRS) throughout its law enforcement operations.

  • DHS/FEMA/PIA-050 National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) PIVOT System

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration (FIMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) owns and operates the NFIP PIVOT (not an acronym; formerly called Phoenix) system. The NFIP PIVOT system is a web-based system designed to help facilitate and consolidate in one system the NFIP’s core business processes including, but not limited to: validation of insurance policies, claims, and data; complex modeling; website hosting (including www.floodsmart.gov); claims administration; policy management; claims review; approvals; and status inquiries. FEMA is conducting this new Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) because NFIP PIVOT collects, uses, maintains, retrieves, and disseminates personally identifiable information (PII) about individuals who purchase flood insurance policies from NFIP, those who process insurance policies, and individuals requesting access to the system.
