  • Social Security Number Fraud Prevention Act Report

    In order to comply with the Act’s prohibition on the inclusion of a full Social Security number (SSN) in documents sent by mail, unless expressly identified as necessary by the Secretary, the DHS Privacy Office plans to implement a multi-phased effort to identify, inventory, analyze, and restructure the use of SSNs in mailed correspondence at the Department. This report describes that effort.

    The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) is funding Higher Dimension Materials, Inc. (HDM), and the North Carolina State University Textile Protect and Comfort Center (TPACC) to identify, test and select the most appropriate fabric and supporting materials to incorporate into an enhanced glove design.

  • Affirmative Action Plan for the Recruitment, Hiring, Advancement, and Retention of Persons with Disabilities

    EEOC regulations (29 C.F.R. § 1614.203(e)) and MD-715 require agencies to describe how their affirmative action plan will improve the recruitment, hiring, advancement, and retention of applicants and employees with disabilities.  Each agency shall make the information submitted to the Commission pursuant to paragraph (e)(1) of this section available to the public by, at a minimum, posting a copy of the submission on its public Web site and providing a means by which members of the public may request copies of the submission in accessible formats.

  • DHS/CBP/PIA-055 HRM 5000

    The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Human Resources Management (HRM) has selected contract support to improve and streamline the recruiting, hiring, and personnel security processes for CBP “Frontline” positions, including U.S. Border Patrol Agents, CBP Officers, and Air and Marine Interdiction Agents. HRM 5000 is CBP’s contract with Accenture Federal Services (AFS) LLC. This contract addresses surge hiring to support the President’s Executive Order for an additional 5,000 Border Patrol Agents (BPA). It will also be used to support the hiring of additional law enforcement positions within the Office of Air and Marine and the Office of Field Operations.

  • DHS/FEMA/PIA-052 Grants Management Modernization (GMM)

    The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant Management Modernization (GMM) program owns and operates the GMM Streamlined Platform for Agile Release and Transformation Acceleration (SPARTA) system. Through the development and deployment of the GMM SPARTA system, GMM seeks to streamline grants management across the Agency’s 40-plus grant programs through a user-centered, business-driven approach. The GMM SPARTA system will consolidate the functionalities of FEMA’s ten legacy IT systems (listed in Appendix C) into a single grants management IT platform.

  • DHS/TSA/PIA-048 Insider Threat Unit Database

    The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) protects the Nation’s transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce. In support of this mission, the TSA Insider Threat Unit seeks to deter, detect, and mitigate insider threats from causing harm to the transportation domain. For purposes of the TSA Insider Threat Unit, “insiders” are, or present themselves to be, current or former transportation sector workers (including both TSA and private sector personnel) and individuals employed or otherwise engaged in providing services requiring authorized access to transportation facilities, assets, or infrastructure. Investigative files will be maintained in a database maintained by the Insider Threat Unit.
