Celebrating 20 Years of the Science and Technology Directorate

Impact 20: Celebrating 20 Years of Science and Technology

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the Science and Technology Directorate!

Established by Congress in 2003 as the research and development arm of the Department of Homeland Security and science advisor to the Secretary, the Science and Technology Directorate does the science that strengthens the nation’s overall security, and develops and transitions the technologies that allow those on the front lines to effectively and safely complete their missions.

To commemorate this important milestone, we have curated a journey through video, a timeline, photo gallery, and articles to share with you some of the most important contributions of the Science and Technology Directorate over the past 20 years.
