S&T to Support First Responder Community at the 2017 National Geospatial Preparedness Summit

The DHS Science and Technology Directorate First Responders Group (FRG) will participate in this year’s National Geospatial Preparedness Summit hosted by the National Alliance for Public Safety GIS (NAPSG) Foundation with guest speakers and technology exhibition. FRG Director Dan Cotter will give opening remarks on day two of the event and Flood Apex program manager Dr. David Alexander will speak at the first responders panel in addition to demonstrating the newest technologies from FRG.

The Summit will bring together public safety practitioners and GIS professionals – to build skills in developing and implementing GIS-based decision support tools, share best practices, build peer relationships, and validate skills and capabilities through workshops and exercises.

FRG plans to demonstrate several technologies that are being developed as part of its Next Generation First Responder and Flood Apex programs. These technologies will help keep first responders better connected, protected and fully aware.

The NAPSG Summit will be held at the University of Alabama, 240 Paul W. Bryant Drive Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa, Alabama from August 7-9. The space is limited so make sure you register early if you are planning to attend!  And check the agenda for FRG’s presentations and exhibit booth location.
