S&T leads a host of active research and development (R&D) projects across a range of areas critical to the security of the nation. Informing our stakeholders within the department, other federal government agencies, critical infrastructure sectors, and the public of our work is key to successfully transitioning products to operational and commercial use.
Next week, we’ll be doing just that at the 2017 Cyber Security R&D Showcase and Technical Workshop, happening Tuesday through Thursday at the Mayflower Hotel. As its name implies, during the event the S&T will showcase nearly all the projects within its extensive cyber research portfolio.
With government and private-sector keynote speakers, panel discussions, and technology demonstrations we will show how we are solving cybersecurity challenges in the private and public sectors. The R&D Showcase and Technical Workshop is the federal government’s largest cybersecurity R&D conference and a must-attend cybersecurity event.
Among the conference’s highlights will be a keynote address by eminent cybersecurity expert Dr. Edward Amoroso, formerly chief security officer for AT&T and founder and CEO of TAG Cyber LLC.
Also, top private-sector and government Chief Executives (CxOs) will discuss current and emerging cybersecurity challenges and threats during an insightful CxO Fireside Chat moderated by Cyber Security Division (CSD) Mobile Security Program Manager Vincent Sritapan.
The biggest draws will be the R&D Showcase, which will feature 10 transition-ready cybersecurity technologies and projects, and the Technical Workshop, during which attendees will choose from more than 100 technical presentations encompassing projects from CSD’s 15 research areas.
There also will be a Technology Demonstration and Poster Session comprised of 67 booths with a total of 79 demonstrations of innovative CSD-funded cybersecurity technologies.
And, for the first time, startups working with the DHS Silicon Valley Innovation Program (SVIP) on solutions for homeland security challenges will present their projects. There also will be presentations by foreign cybersecurity researchers funded by CSD’s international partners.
The R&D Showcase and Technical Workshop is where cybersecurity professionals gain valuable intel on the direction of cyber R&D and find solutions that will help protect their systems and networks from costly cyberattacks.
I wish CSD Director Dr. Douglas Maughan and his team a successful conference. I hope you enjoy the event. I’m sure you’ll find it worthy of your time investment. While online registration is closed, walk-up registration is available for July 12 and 13. If you are unable to attend, please stay tuned to the S&T website for follow-up conference materials.
