Established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1954 and operating under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since 2003, the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) marks 70 years of service in 2024.

To acknowledge this milestone, the Science and Technology Directorate invites you to learn more about the legacy of PIADC scientists, whose research into diagnostics, therapeutics, and detection and decontamination technologies, protects our nation’s livestock.
